Tsukemen
Uchoku
迂直
Uchoku is a kombu-water tsukemen specialist that moved from Ogikubo to the basement of Coppice Kichijoji in April 2025, three minutes from the north exit.
The shop
Uchoku first opened in Amanuma, Suginami (near Ogikubo Station) in December 2018 and was selected for Tabelog's Ramen Hyakumeiten list in 2019, 2020 and 2021. That shop closed at the end of January 2022, and Uchoku reopened in Coppice Kichijoji Building A on April 29, 2025.
The bowl
Uchoku serves kombu-water tsukemen: house-made noodles come resting in kombu water, alongside a soy-based dipping sauce built on bonito and kombu stock. The full 'tokusei' bowl adds chashu, a seasoned egg and nori. Toward the end of its Ogikubo years the shop served only its shoyu tsukemen.
How to order
Order the shoyu tsukemen; the tokusei version is the one with all toppings. A common way to eat it is to taste a few noodles on their own first, then dip them in the sauce.
