Tsubaki Shokudo
◯つばき食堂
A roadside ramen shop in northern Koganei, formerly called Ramen Shop Tsubaki, that opens at 6:00 a.m. and has its own parking lot.
The shop
The shop previously traded as Ramen Shop Tsubaki (ラーメンショップ 椿) and now goes by ◯Tsubaki Shokudo. It has no official website or account, and its founding year and the owner's background are not published.
The bowl
The menu listed on Tabelog (last updated in 2023) is built around a basic ramen and a salt (shio) ramen. Negi (green onion) versions come in soy sauce, salt and miso, with chashu-topped variations of each. Larger 'King' bowls, a negi tsukemen and tare soba (sauced noodles without soup) are also listed, and small add-ons include wakame, nori and a seasoned egg.
How to order
For a first visit, the plain ramen or one of the negi bowls is the core of the menu. Most bowls are offered in regular (nami) and medium (chu) sizes, and the King bowls are a larger size. Because the listed menu dates from 2023, check current prices at the shop.
Before you go
- Open 6:00-21:00 according to Tabelog; no regular closing day is listed.
- Cash only: cards, e-money and QR payments are not accepted (Tabelog).
- Not within easy walking distance of a station: take a bus from Musashi-Koganei (about 10 minutes) to the Chudai Fuzoku Koko stop, then walk 3-5 minutes.
- Nine parking spaces in the shop's own lot on the north side; the entrance has a high step and is narrow, so low or large vehicles need care.
- 24 seats split between two rooms, including counter seats; the shop is non-smoking.
